SSOT O7

I Tim 2:3-4 God desires all men to be saved, and come to the full knowledge of Him.

I Tim 3:15 God wants to make the church (church= us) to be the living house, and the pillar and base of the truth.

6 pts about the bible

1. The Bible is God's personal letter to us His children. A father only writes something that the children would understand, and the things concerning them. This is why the Bible doesn't tell us EVERYTHING, because it doesn't really matter to us. Since it is his PERSONAL letter to us, we need to read and try to understand the Bible.

2. The bible is a book of life and it teaches us divine and spiritual lessons. It has history, ethics, law, poetry, but its not a book of those things, it is a book of LIFE. In Acts, the time of the children of Israel leaving Egypt up to the time Solomon built the temple is 573 years. But it I Kings, its only 480 years. There's a 93 year discrepencies right? WRONG those 93 years were not counted because the children of Israel were under opression. If you count the years that Israel was in opression in the book of Judges, it adds up to 93 years. Therefore it is not a discrepencies, but a spiritual lesson. This is telling us that the times that we are in the world (meaning the times that we sin or do the things not of God) doesn't count.

3. There are 4 crucial elements in the bible: Christ, Spirit, Life, Church. Without these things, the bible would not be the bible. It'll just be like any other books. Just like is one of the three element of Carbohydrate is taken out, it will become a poisonous gas such as methane.

4. The Bible changes people inwardly, it regenerates and saves them. There's this true story of an African tribe man who got hold of a bible, and started reading it. Then, an American saw him reading the Bible, and mocked him for reading the Bible. The African man replied "if it wasn't for this bible, you would be in my stomach right now." This African man was a canninbal, but the Bible changed him.

5. The Bible has withstood the test of time- It had never been changed because it doesn't need to be changed or to be updated. There different version of the Bible, but that is just for us to understand them better. It is because some bibles are written in modern english that is more like the shakesperean language.

6. We need a comprehensive view of the Bible. This means, we need to take the Bible as a whole, and not just parts. One verse is supported by the rest of the Bible. For example, many Christian focus on God is love. He is love, but it doesn't mean we can do ANYTHING we want because they are forgetting that God is also righteouss. One man learned that the bible needs to be read as a whole the hard way. He picked a random verse to read to decide what he should do for the day. One day he pointed out to random verse, and it says Judas went out and killed himself. Thinking that this cannot be what God is really saying, he picked another verse which says just do it, be faithful and just do it. After this experience, he read the Bible in order from beginning to end.

God's gift to us:

God has given us two eternal gifts: our spirit, and the BIBLE. We must be in our spirit when reading the Bible to receive the full life. One cannot work without the other. The Bible and our spirit is just like the fuel in a train, and the tracks. The fuel being our spirit, and the tracks being the Bible. If a train has fuel, but without tracks, it will move it the wrong directions. However is the train is on the tracks, but there are no fuel in it, the train won't move. Just like the Bible without the spirit can lead to wrong things. One time, a man said that he had beaten his wife because his spirit is telling him to do that. But, the Bible clearly says husbands love your wife. He may have the spirit, but not the bible, and therefore is mislead. Without the bible, we won't even hear the leading of the spirit, and so this man was not using his spirit, but Satan is probably telling him what to do. Being in your spirit while reading the bible just means that whenever you are touched on a verse, or you like the verse, you should pray on it. For example the verse II Tim 3:17 That the man of God may be complete fully equipped for every good work. We could pray something like Lord help me to be complete. I want to be fully equiped to do your work Lord. something like that ... just make the Words personal to you

The origin of the Bible:

The Bible being God's breath. II Time 3:16 says "All Scripture is God breathed ..." It is God himself breathing out His words through His Spirit into our spirit. In order to get the taste of his essence, we need to inhale what he is breathing out. In other words, we need to read the Bible.

The Bible being the Speaking from God by men borned by the Holy Spirit. II Peter 1:21-" For no prophecy was ever born by the will of man, but man spoke from God while being borne by the Holy Spirit" In this verse, man needs to be in their spirit first. Then God can speak to them. Being borne by the Holy Spirit is just like a sailboat being carried by wind. The Spirit of God carries us to speak His wordsm but first we need to read the Bible so God can speak to us.

The Bible being God's speaking in the prophets and in the son. Hebrews 1:1-2 " God, having spoken of old in many portions and in many ways to the fathers in the prophets, Has at the last of these days spoken to us in the Son, whom he appointed Heir of all things, through whom also He made the universe; " So in the old testament, God spoke to the prophets, but in the New testament, God spoke through the son. Whether through the prophets or sons, both are from God, and of God.

The Bible being the Holy Spirit's revelation. John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of reality; comes, He will guide you into all the reality; for He will not speak for Himself, but what He hears, He will speak; and He will declare to you the things that are coming. In this verse, God had became the life giving spirit. All that the Holy Spirit wants us to know is writtem through the bible. Therefore, the Bible are from God and are God inspired.

Ways to Enjoy the Bible:

Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God."

John 17:17 "Sanctify them in the truth, Your work is truth" Everytime we read the bible, we get sanctified. Sanctification is setting us apart for a goal.

All we need to do is read a verse a day, and it can sanctify us. Heb 4:12- The word is living and operative... it is never too young for anyone to have an experience of the Bible. Staying away from the bible is just like staying away from God. God operates by the bible. So if we want him to operate in us, we need to read the Bible. Romans 15:4 " For the things that were written previously were written for our instruction, in order that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope" We miss the encouragement because we don't read the Bible. Reading the Bible can comfort us, give us strength, and help us overcome the evil one.

Besides reading, there is also pray-reading. Pray reading is turning the verses in the Bible into personal prayers.

We can also enjoy the bible by studying. There are recovery version bible with footnotes which will help clear things up. There are also life study messages, and ministry books. These can clear up some things, and help us understand/ enjoy the bible.

Proofs that the Bible is the Word of God

more than 2000x the bible tell sus that God is the author. The best criteria for authorship is the moral tone. The book of Morman allowed polygamy. The Quran promises virgins for men who "fought" for religious reasons. Therefore the heaven is full of lusts and flesh. This cannot be written by God. God has a high standard of morality.

The bible had always been bestsellers... it had been translated to more than 2000 languages. Acts 1:8 "... and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and unto the uteermost part of the earth." Many people had testify concerning the word of God, and most of our experiences come from the Word.

There are more than 40 people that God used to write the Bible. Those people have different professions, and lived at different times. It took 1600 years to write the Bible, and though written by different people, there is one central theme.

The bible has accurate stories, and are not biass against any side. The Bible mentioned the sucess and failures of Israel, not just the successes. Though the Lord loved David, he still mentioned David's sins taking in Uriah.

The Bible has many of its prophecies completed. For example, in Micah 5:2, the Lord is supposed to be born in Bethlehem. In Isaiah, it talks about the son of God and how he lived and how he died. These prophecies of the old testament had been fulfilled in the new testament by Jesus. The decriptions of the son of God in the old testament matches the person Jesus.

Before the Lord was crucified, he prophesied in Matthew 24:2 that not one stone of the temple would be left upon another. This means that the temple would be destroyed, and the people would be scattered. This came true in A.D. 70 when the Roman prince, Titus, destroyed the city and the temple. People spread everywhere to escape prosecution, and the nation of Israel was scattered. Romans 11 prophesied that the restoration of Israel will come before the end of the world will come. In 1948, Israel became a nation again. Luke 21:24 prophecied that Jersualem will be trampled by the nations until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. In 1967, Jerusalem was returned to God's people.

No other book can have such an impact such as the Bible. Many are willing to be prosecuted. During the dark ages, anyone who has the Bible are prosecuted, and a lot of Bibles had been burned. One French family kept the Bible in a slot which is in their couch. When the want to read it, they flip their couch and take out their Bible. One day, someone came to search their house, and could not find the Bible. This family eventually immigrated to America where they can read the Bible freely.

Long before people discovered the world was round, the Bible already told us that the world is round. Isaiah 40:22 - God sits in the circle of earth ... if the earth was flat ... how was it possible for God to sit in the circle of earth? Therefore the earth mus be round.

to be continued ...

HARVEY CEDARS 2007

David, a young person who served his own generation by the counsel of God- Acts 13:36

David was the youngest of eight son, chosen by God, and trained in humility. God told Samuel to go to Jesse, and choose from the sons. Jesse brought his 7 sons to Samuel, and David was tending the sheep. God did not look for anyone of great stature. He chose David, because he was trained since he was born. Tending sheeps trained David to be patience, to submit to his work. He takes care of every single sheep, and had not left his responsibility. His love for Jehovah was great. He contacts God daily. Psalm 86:3 - Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. He called, prayed, enjoyed the Word, confessed, concecrate, give thanks, and he petitioned. David submits himself to authority. King Saul was out to kill David. David had 2 chances to kill Saul, but he obeyed God, and did not kill him. He trusts that the Lord has His ways. While in war with the Philistines, David came face to face to fight Goliath. Goliath was a giant, and David defeated him with one smooth stone. While he was king, he did not wish for people to serve him. Instead, he serves the people as king. He sheperds them, lead them as he had led his sheeps. David was not a perfect person. He sinned when he was not in his spirit. By waking up late, he lusts, and the sins build up. He tried to cover up his sin, but it leads to more sin. However, he confessed and repented. Psalm 51 is a chapter written by David of his specific repentance to God. God forgave him, but there are lasting consequences to David’s sin. Just like David, we are not perfect. We sin and sin. However, God will always forgive us if we confess and repent with all of out hearts. 1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

David was a channel vessel. As a channel, he received God, and ministered God to others. We are all channel vessels. What we receive is what we say. Matthew 12: 38 - For out of the heart, the mouth speaks. If we receive Christ, we speak of Christ. We are a vessel of mercy, a chosen vessel, a vessel unto honor. A vessel is valued bz its content. A box is a vessel to contain something. If it the box alone, it means nothing. However, if there is a diamond in the box, its value would be great. SImilarly, to be a precious vessel, we are to contain God. The proper vessel is the humanity of Jesus. We are never to young to do anything for God. In fact, he is training us right now through our school, our authority. Every little thing is an opportunity for us to grow in God. Just by doing what your parents tell you to do, you are growing in spirit. In this age, this generation, calling someone stupid or mocking someone in other ways are taken lightly. However, it is the same as murder. By mocking someone, a part of you is dead, and it hurts the other person also. The matter of serving is also a part of God’s training. In order for us to serve others, we must first come to the Lord and let Him serve us so that he can serve others through us. We are all selfish and would do everything for our own convenience. We all need to learn to experience the joy of service. To do this, we need to be open to receive the Lord, we need to deal with our hearts, and we need to be willing to let the Lord flow in. Although serving might be a hard thing to do, there are practical ways to do them. A service can be praying for others, being a proper pattern, giving, participating in services of the church, shepherding others, and preaching the gospel. Enjoying these services mean that we need to be in out spirit.

Psalm 86: 3,5 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Four thou, Lord, [art] good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

Galatians 5:16 But I say, Walk by the Spirit and you shall by no means fulfill the lust of the flesh.

I love my BIG FAMILY

"here is the church, there is no steeple, because the church is the people"

WHAT IS THE NAME OF MY CHURCH ???

it has no name ... because in the bible, the church is referred as the name of the city it is in. And it comes to the matter of 1 city 1 local church. Acts 14:23 said they appointed elders in every church. Titus 1:5 says to appoint elders in every city. If you combine the two verses together, you'll see that 1 city = 1 church. Revelation 1:11, John wrote to the 7 churches. The 7 churches is not mentioned with names such as the lutheran church or the baptist church, but rather with the name of 7 cities. It says " Saying, What you see write in a scroll and send it to the seven churches : to Ephesus and to Symyrna and to Pergamos and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea. So you see ... the churches does not have a name, but is reffereed as where they are in each city. So if you ask me what church do I go to ... the answer would be " THE CHURCH " but if you want to know specifically where .. i would say THE CHURCH IN NYC.

1 city 1 church does not mean that we can't have more than 1 meeting halls. In fact, in NYC we have 2 meeting halls ( one in manhattan and one in queens ). Remember that the church is us, not the physical building. As long as we are one, and is not divided, its okay.

DOES THAT MEAN WE'RE RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG ???

NOOOOOOOOOOOO it doesn't mean that we're right and you're wrong or vise versa. Its just that we follow everything according to the bible. And guess what? THE BIBLE IS RIGHT !!

I love the Church, O God !

For her my tears shall fall,

For her my prayers ascend;

To her my cares and toils be given

Till toils and cares shall end
